GoJoe supercharging Centrica with Road to Paris challenge

As the world’s finest athletes descend on Paris 2024 this summer, Centrica, the parent company of British Gas,will be gearing its employees to battle it out in their own festival of sport through a partnership with GoJoe.

Inspired by British Gas’ partnership with Team GB and ParalympicsGB for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the ‘Road to Paris’ is a virtual team-based challenge which will see teams from across the business compete with and against their employees.

GoJoe, the leading employee experience app for health and fitness, will host the fully inclusive challenge from 10-30 June with the platform’s automated weighted points system ensuring anyone can rack up the points for their team regardless of level or activity.  And with 50 potential activities to log, competitors can run, walk, hike, swim, lift or even crossfit their way to victory in the team or solo competitions.

Five-time Paralympic champion and British Gas brand ambassador Ellie Simmonds will be fronting the challenge and helping inspire colleagues to be more active this summer. The ParalympicsGB legend is captaining her own team of Centrica employees and will be logging her activity across the three weeks for everyone to follow.

Centrica employees can also win a host of Team GB and ParalympicsGB themed prizes including signed merchandise and even tickets to The Games itself. Prizes are awarded for a range of competitions via the GoJoe app including recreating an Olympic or Paralympic sport at home, composing your own challenge anthem, weekly themed photos as well as the wider GoJoe Awards for activity across three weeks.

In addition to the challenge, Centrica employees also have access to the wider premium features of GoJoe which includes curated health and fitness journeys, live and on-demand webinars from elite athletes and coaches and exclusive workouts and wellbeing videos and audio tracks.

Started by ordinary Joes who believed in the power of social connection to drive better health, GoJoe has become the world's most inclusive health and fitness employee experience platform. GoJoe brings people closer together through health and fitness with people they know - whatever their level and whatever their activity - and enables positive change for individuals and the organisations they work for.

“I am really excited to be working with GoJoe to bring colleagues a truly inclusive Wellbeing Challenge to encourage more activity, create positive changes, and have some fun. We are leveraging the partnership we have with Team GB/Paralympics GB to reach as many colleagues as possible and provide education, challenges, and prizes.

Being an Olympic year presents an amazing opportunity to show colleagues how important their health and wellbeing are to us. This is great for them, their families, and also for business. GoJoe is a perfect fit with our purpose to provide holistic wellbeing that focuses on the whole person, to get and stay physically and mentally fit and healthy."

“It’s going to be a really exciting summer across Centrica and we’re delighted to be playing our part by using GoJoe to give their colleagues around the world the opportunity to have fun and enjoy some friendly sporting competition of their own. GoJoe was built to help the average Joe be more active and enjoy exercise and we know first-hand the impact this can have on their physical and mental health, so it’s great to be supporting so many of their team with their own individual journeys as well as what they do as a collective.”
